Babysitting

It's a slow news day. Aside from the chairman of the Arkansas' Democratic Party getting shot at by police, and Cindy McCain spraining her hand (from practicing her First lady wave?) there's not much breaking news in South Jersey today.

And when other reporters don't have much going on, all of a sudden it becomes my job to come up with an idea. Make some news, miss news editor.

So I search through my dozens of emails and press releases and have to find busy work for the other reporters? I didn't hear that in the job description. Everyone I work with has been here at least a year. They know what's required of them.

Do I really have to remind people not to be on iChat, or surfing celebrity gossip web sites, or staring at the ceiling, or joking with the photographers?

I'm not a babysitter.

Did I mention they shouldn't be blogging while at work either?
